Something I learned my investigation of alcohol stoves & fuel ...

There are about 40 government-sanctioned recipes for "denatured alcohol"
for different industrial applications, but the variety we see in the
hardware stores is all 90+ percent ethanol/methanol, and a few % nasty
combustible poisons like acetone so you won't drink it. The denatured
alcohol market seems to have consolidated into 2 major manufacturers:
Sunnyside and Kleen-Strip. IIRC Kleen-Strip is a brand of Barr
Chemical. Both companies also sell as private labels.

Sunnyside is 90+ percent ethanol, less than 4% methanol, plus the
foul-tasting poison. Kleen-Strip is roughly equal proportions of
ethanol and methanol, with the same few percent of foul-tasting poison.
If you have a choice, get the low-methanol Sunnyside stuff, since
methanol is more toxic and yields less energy than ethanol.

Kleen-Strip is also sold as SLX brand (at Home Depot, Lowe's, and
Walmart) and as Ace Hardware's store brand. The MSDS was a pain to get;
I had to get a tech person on the phone and he emailed it to me.

Sunnyside is also sold as AllPro brand, which seems to be a paint store
buying cooperative. I have seen it sold under the Sunnyside name at
True Value stores. They have a good web site where you can find a list
of all the private labels and the MSDS. Both the Sunnyside and AllPro
cans say "less than 4% methanol" on the side; I think that is standard
verbiage from Sunnyside and is a good indicator.

For my last trek, we checked the stoves on the plane, then got Sunnyside
at the ICI paint store in Flagstaff. Any leftovers can be dumped in a
parking lot to evaporate.
