More generally, gaffer's tape is allegedly superior to duct tape (greater sticking power, greater resistance to moisture, easier to tear, and less likely to leave a residue).  I have some, but have almost never used it so I can't say firsthand if it's truly better or not.  Living in So Calif, it's easy to find ... more expensive than duct tape but since I've used maybe 50 cents worth over the years, who cares.  I suppose Gorilla tape may be a mass-market version of gaffer's tape.
