well, the name of the group is BackpackingLight, not BackpackingCheap. The emphasis on on lightweight. Cost may be an issue for some folks, but not all. That Bibler tent is a good tent. But yes, it is pricey. Worth the cost? Depends a lot on who's buying. (I prefer the tarptents these days over the bombproof single wall Bibler, even if I felt I could afford the Bibler.)
Maybe we need another forum called BackpackingCheap or HoboBackpacking.
In the meantime, seems to me that all items that have to do with lightweight backpacking are open for discussion here, everything from tents costing hundreds of dollars to blue plastic tarps you can buy at Wally World.
