Re: [BackpackingLight] Wood Gas Stoves

I have two J Faulk knockoffs wood stoves that I personally made from looking at his on the website. I would term it more of a twiggy fire than wood gas, IMO. They work ok but I have a feeling if I look at weight for a one or night trip the esbits and a caldera  would come in under it's weight.  Personally if I wanted to have a wood as an option setup I'd go Ti Caldera. I just can't get excited at spending that amount right now. I'm looking for Ti sheeting here in the area and would not be above cutting my own out and living with a less than factory joining seam. It would let you go three ways with one setup !

I was using alcohol up until recently, but have wanted to try and cut my total weight down some more for longer trips. It would be nice not to have to resupply fuel and it seems to me that some of the wood gas burning stoves are pretty efficient (especially the double walled designs). Does anyone have any experience with these wood gas stoves? I would love to hear from people that either use them now or have used them in the past. Thanks.
