I use a Nalgene style water bottle as a pee bottle in Winter. Needless to
say, proper identification is very important in the dark....... ;o)
My solution was to use a Tex-Sport water bottle. It not only is bright
orange, it also has a large twisted, for want of a better description,
pattern in the plastic. Even in the dark it is easy to identify.
BTW, it comes with a smiley face stopper with the drink cut out section in
it. *Be sure* to remove this before using this as a pee bottle. You just
don't want to know what happens in the dark when you don't.......
One other thing to remember, particularly at temps below 0 F; Either pour
the pee out, and to the side, of the tent door or be sure you set the bottle
upright when through. If you don't and it ends up on it's side or even worse
upside down, a frozen pee plug will develop and when you use it again,
particularly in your $800 sleeping bag in the dark, you will be very upset
with the outcome. Don't ask.......

You should see my denatured alcohol container, LOL! It has so many warning
labels on it that it's almost funny.
In addition to poison labels, some hikers use a bottle that has a
distinctive shape, like a fabric softener bottle, just to make even more
certain someone doesn't take a swig of their stove fuel in the dark...

> You go right ahead and rant about this. It happened to me. I had alcohol
in a drink bottle - I had taken the label off, and put duct tape around the
bottle. One of the other Scout leaders thought it was water and took a
swig!! I will never put denatured alcohol in a drink bottle again.
