Welcome!
There are a lot of good people here, I am sure you can learn whatever
you need from them...a great bunch!
The wife, my youngest daughter and me were camping along the AT
in GA. When we got up and started tearing down the tent, we found a
scorpion (kind of a little guy) under the tent. Well, he went in a spice bottle,
because my daughter wanted to keep him. She, of course forgot about it.
After we got back, (we live in central NY, Ithaca) we were cleaning out the
gear and found him. My daughter wanted to stick her finger in there,
thinking he had expired after 15 days with no food. I said no. I got some
acetone and filled a small bottle with it, then, dumped him in. I laughed
when she went running to hide behind me(she was a bit old for that,
about 12 years old, I think.) The scorpion did *not* like the acetone bath
at all. She kept it in the jar about 6 years and showed all of her friends.
Anyway, the story doesn't really have much to do with hiking. But,
your experience out in the wilderness will help everyone. What do you
carry? And why does it work for you?
My thoughts only . . .
