Bert, 1) I would say the #3 bag should do it, assuming you are in a tent. I spent 2 seasons in NW MT(1May-1 Oct) and my old 30 degree bag was fine. However that was two above aveage warm years but I also did camping in June where there were still snow spots in the campgrounds. My wife had a 15 degree bag which she always liked but she is a cold sleeper. On one July hike it was raining but maybe 200 feet above it was snow, we did just fine with the bags. Unless you are a realy cold sleeper the #3 should do it. 2) I do profiles on my TOPO! program. 3) Never hiked in VA so can't compare. Glacier has a full range of hiking. If you start around Logan Pass and hike the Divide its pretty much flat going with little elevation change. Coming up from Many Glacier its 3000 feet+ climb, quite a haul. Depending where you are going you can have pretty much any type hike you want. Where are you planning to hike? The Two Med-Dawson Pass-Pitamaken Pass- Old Man Lake-Two Med loop is a Glacier classic. I used the tour boat to avoid the hike along the lake shore. I like this hike because it has a good range of elevation change and some very good scenery. Best of luck on your trip, whatever you do I am sure you will have a great time. Cheers, BMD --- On Fri, 7/10/09, bertcourson <bertcourson@
