Re: [BackpackingLight] Esbit vs Alcohol Stoves

Will definitely try both and wood burning while i am at it (have a ti-tri caldera on the way). Was just curious if there were particular situations/environments where one is better than the other or is it just a mood/personal preference thing......

Why is this an either or when I go backpacking I take both. But as further responses will show  you should not travel with Esbit tablets. Check out Trail Designs he has an Esbit burner that works excellent with their systems

Looking for thoughts/opinions on the pros and cons of Esbit vs Alcohol stoves. Tried Esbit cubes and it seems to be a matter of starting them on fire and they burn really hot for 13+/- minutes. Seems good enough for me -- what does alcohol get you?

Also, any tips/tricks on acquiring Esbit/alcohol if getting to the trailhead involves commercial air travel.
