[BackpackingLight] Anyone use an Ipod Nano (what generation model?) on week long hikes going up to 12,000 feet and higher?

Anyone use an Ipod Nano (what generation model?) on week long hikes going up to 12,000 feet and higher?

the Apple specs state it is only warranted < 3,000 meters (9,842 feet).  I found one page of input where one person said they'd done colorado mountains with no problems.  would like more input on this issue.  Our group is planning on a 2nd gen and 4th gen ipod nano going on the full jmt hike and wonder.

thanks!
