Re: [BackpackingLight] Esbit vs Alcohol Stoves

I've tried both and like the esbit.  As others have noted there's no fuss with it and its lighter.  I also like that I can set it up the night before, roll over in the am light it and stay warm in the sleeping bag.  It burns hot for the allotted time, with no flame outs or surprises.  Never had problems with lighting it but I bet a drop of hand sanitizer would make the initial ignition easier.

Looking for thoughts/opinions on the pros and cons of Esbit vs Alcohol stoves. Tried Esbit cubes and it seems to be a matter of starting them on fire and they burn really hot for 13+/- minutes. Seems good enough for me -- what does alcohol get you?
